Abstract
Photonic components are one of the niche components that find application in various strategic sectors like healthcare, aerospace, defense, nuclear, communication, and laser engineering. The polishing of the optic surfaces in the photonic components especially, fiber optic parts such as Ferrules, Connectors, Waveguides, Silicon V-groove, Optical Chips, Capillary/Glass Lenses, Fiber Bundles, Ribbon Fiber and Bare Fiber is a challenging task. Requires a very high precision polishing machine to minimize defects and rejection rates.
The development of this technology is crucial to meet the application demands in the variety of fields listed above. Development of this technology and machine will lead to ease of access to this niche technology and promote business development in related fields. The development serves as a bridge for technological development in sectors like healthcare, aerospace, defense, nuclear, communication, and laser engineering.
